Quite possibly the worst twist ever...

Directed by young French filmmaker Alexandre Aja, High Tension is a superbly crafted and stunningly violent horror film that suffers from a case having quite possibly the worst twist ending ever. Okay, maybe I say 'ever' with a strong sense of a hyperbolic undertone, but it's bad. Really Bad. Not only does the film not call for a twist, but also the twist ending that does take place makes absolutely no conceivable sense; it's neither believable nor flat out possible. And this really is too bad, considering the rest of the film really works quite well and it would have made a fine addition to a genre in desperate need of a facelift, as it's current blend of teenager slasher pictures and torture porn can only go so far.
